Central Java immigration deported 104 foreign

NAWACITA- The Central Java immigration authorities deported 104 foreign nationals since early this year over varied immigration violations, Immigration Division Chief of Central Java Provincial Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry Esti Winahyu Nurhandayani stated.

“Most had overstayed their permits, while some had violated immigration permits,” she noted here on Tuesday.

Of the total, 14 were subject to immigration law enforcement comprising 13 from the immigration checkpoint of the Semarang Immigration Office and one from the non-immigration checkpoint of the Pemalang Immigration Office, she remarked.

In the meantime, Chief of the Immigration Checkpoint of the Cilacap Immigration Office Bisri stated that 17 of the 104 foreign nationals deported from Central Java were from the Cilacap Immigration Office.

“Most who had just been set free were foreign convicts since the jurisdiction of the Immigration Checkpoint of the Cilacap Immigration Office covers the Nusakambangan prison island. Hence, most of the deportees were former convicts of the Nusakambangan prison island,” he explained.

Several foreign workers employed in a few companies in Cilacap were also deported during the January-November 2019 period.

“Cilacap is home to a thermal power plant and Pertamina (oil refinery),” he stated.

Speaking in connection with the presence of foreign nationals in Banjarnegara District, he stated while drawing reference to data from the Cilacap Immigration Office that 16 foreign nationals held limited stay permit cards.

The 16 foreign nationals are employed in two South Korean companies in Banjarnegara, he remarked.
